Since starting a ceramics evening class at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Lieze Huybrechts has been applying her graphic background and artistic ideas into ceramics.

She finds inspiration everywhere around her, from art and design to flea markets and eureka moments during a bike ride in Antwerp. Aside from some slip casted pieces, most of the genster objects are built by hand, that’s why every piece is unique.

Some of her products are straight-forward pretty. With others she goes one step further and takes their function as a departing point for a more formal or conceptual research. This leads to well considered functional objects who are playful and invite you to play along.
